"Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new" Albert Einstein said many meaningful quotes but this one I think really relates to photography. Photography is never a precise art. It always involves making mistakes, but also learning from them. Believe it or not, photographers are also humans and make mistakes. Here are a few examples from my photos. These have all been given titles which reflect where I went wrong.
Underexposed Underground This is a picture of the Underground at embankment. The day before, I was doing work in my studio. Consequently, the ISO was not on auto and far too low, creating an underexposed image. The exposure has been improved with editing, but it is still missing much detail in the shadows. However, sometimes it is easier to think along what went well. I think it really portrays the idea of being a stranger around strange people and the level of the camera, low down makes the person in the foreground larger-than-life.
In addition, the experience allowed me to learn and on the way back, improve and make a better picture of a similar theme, and I learned a lot more than if I were not making the mistake. Ultimately, we learn from mistakes- we do so as part of human nature. Einstein was right.
